Assigning a Kahoot
It is not always possible to reach every student in your workshop or tutorial in one sitting, so assigning the Kahoot may bridge that gap.
And while you may not wish to assign an icebreaker to students who missed your first workshop, Kahoot can be used to provide formative feedback throughout your unit delivery.
Assigning a Kahoot to students who missed your workshop, or as an activity for all students to do will ensure that you can collect progressive formative feedback on how your students are engaging with your subject.
Deadlines can be set, and personalised learning activated, letting students review any questions they may have gotten wrong.
Steps to assign a Kahoot
- Select the Kahoot you wish to assign from the Kahoot! Home, folders, or Library pages.
Select Assign.
2. If setting a deadline (recommended), ensure the box is ticked, select the date and time settings as appropriate.
Toggle options for question timing (optional), Player identifier (recommended), randomise, and nickname generator (optional).
See Advanced Settings for more information on options.
Player Identification
For Player Identification it is recommended that students are requested to join the Kahoot quiz using their SCU email. This is recommended for tracking progress and participation.
Note: The players will be required to enter a player identifier when entering the game, for example an email address, that will be associated with their nickname.
This allows you as the host to know the identity of each player to see their answers and score, and to track progress in training or tournaments.
As the teacher, you are the "data controller" of any personal data collected in player identifier and responsible for its lawful collection and use.
Kahoot acts as a data processor and will not use this information for any other purpose than to provide the services to you.
Personalised Learning
To use the Personalised Learning option, players need to install Kahoot iOS or Android app on their mobile devices. By default, this option is off.
3. Select the Create button to confirm your Kahoot settings.
4. A new window will open, displaying your assigned Kahoot details such as QR code, Game PIN and URL to share with your students via Blackboard, email, or any other online format.
These details can be easily downloaded and copied; your due date can be adjusted here if an extension of time is needed.
5. Once the quiz has been completed by all students, or the due date has passed, the report will become available for downloading.
Select Report options to download, embed, print, etc.
