To install Java in Windows 10

This article will provide instructions for downloading and installing Java on a Windows 10 PC.

Step 1: Open a web browser (eg Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge)

Step 2: Navigate to the official website: www.java.com and click on Download

If you've typed in the address, rather than using the link above, make sure you have gone to the true website for java.com and not clicked an advertising link that's taken you to a malware replica site.

You can do this by looking at the URL in the address bar - it should start with java.com. You'll also need to click on "Free download" to get the screen below.)

Step 3:  Click Agree and Start Free Download (this will work even if you are seeing the message regarding Edge)

Step 4: Once the file has down loaded "Run" it and follow the prompts to install.

If you are installing Java to enable access to a Collaborate session, return to your learning site, and try again to access the Collaborate session. When attempting to open the play.jnlp or meeting.jnlp you will no longer get the prompt regarding choosing an app and Collaborate will launch (regardless of which browser).

If you are installing Java to resolve a problem with Voiceboard, please note that you will need to access the learning site in a browser other than Edge (eg use Internet Exporer, Firefox etc).
