Connect to Staff & Student Wireless (wireless@SCU)

The following step by step process will connect your Windows 10 computer to wireless@SCU.

Step 1: Select the wireless@SCU network, then select Connect

Step 2:  Enter your SCU short username and password, then select ok

Step 3: Click Connect to accept our server's certificate. 

Step 4:  Windows will now verify the network and Connect. 

Step 5: Your computer is now connected to the network

Congratulations! You are now connected to wireless@SCU. In the future, wireless@SCU will be among your preferred networks and you can connect directly to it, without repeating this process.

The following step by step process will connect your Windows 8 computer to wireless@SCU.

Step 1: Select wireless@SCU then select Connect.

Step 2: Enter your SCU short username and password.

Step 3: Click Connect to accept our server's certificate.

Step 4: Windows will now verify the network and Connect.

Step 5: Connected.

Congratulations! You are now connected to wireless@SCU. In the future, wireless@SCU will be among your preferred networks and you can connect directly to it, without repeating this process.

The following step by step process will connect your Mac computer to wireless@SCU.

Step 1: Click on the Apple Menu and then go to System Preferences.

Step 2: Click Network.

Step 3: Click on Network Name and then click"wireless@SCU"

Step 4: Select Mode:Automatic,then enter your SCU username & password (your SCU short name and password), and select Join.

Step 5: Select Continue at the Verify Certificate, Authenticate to network "Wireless@SCU" window.

Step 6: You will now be asked to enter the MacOS username & password (the password you use to log into the Mac, this is not your SCU username & password) 

Congratulations! You are now connected to wireless@SCU. Your Mac will remember your settings and automatically connect when you are in range and do not have Airport turned on.

The following step by step process will connect your  iPhone or iPod Touch to wireless@SCU.

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Tap onWi-Fi.

Step 3: SwitchWi-Fi ONand choose wireless@SCU.

Step 4: Enter your SCU short username and password.

Step 5: Click Accept when prompted by the certificate.

Congratulations! You are now connected to wireless@SCU. Your device will remember your settings and automatically connect when you are in range and have WiFi turned on.

(Note the wireless icon will appear next to your phone provider when you are connected to wireless).

The following step by step process will connect your mobile devices running the Android operating system (version 2 and later) to wireless@SCU.

Due to the many different versions and user interfaces of Android, the following are the general settings for wireless@SCU and may not be specific to your device.

Step 1: From your Settings menu, select Connections

Step 2: Select Wi-Fi Settings.

Step 3: Ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled. Under Wi-Fi Networks will be a list of wireless networks that are available to connect to.

Step 4: Select the network wireless@SCU - a pop up window will appear asking for information.

Step 5: Enter the following:

EAP method: Select PEAP

Phase-2 authentication: Select MSCHAPV2

CA certificate: leave blank

User certificate: leave blank or set to "do not validate"

Please note: some devices will not allow the 'connect' button to be active unless the setting 'CA certificate' is set to 'Do not validate'.

Identity: Enter your SCU short username

Anonymous Identity: leave blank

Password: Enter your SCU password

Domain: If prompted type in:  scu.edu.au

Step 6: Press Connect.

Congratulations! You are now connected to wireless@SCU. Your device will remember your settings and automatically connect when you are in range and have WiFi turned on.

(Note the wireless icon will appear next to your phone provider when you are connected to wireless).

The following settings are for mobile devices running other phone operating systems.

Due to the many different versions and user interfaces of common smartphones, the following are the general settings for wireless@SCU and may not be specific to your device. Note: Nokia devices running the Symbian operating system are incompatible with wireless@SCU.

Newer devices automatically detect some of these options.

Step 1: Go to your wireless network configuration settings.

Step 2: Turn on Wi-Fi and connect to the wireless@SCU access point.

Step 3: If prompted, ensure WPA2-Enterprise (or equivalent) is selected for security settings.

Step 4: If prompted, ensure PEAP and MSCHAPv2 are selected for authentication.

Step 5: If prompted to enter a Domain, type in: scu.edu.au

Step 6: Use your SCU username and password to connect.

Congratulations! You are now connected to wireless@SCU. Your device will remember your settings and automatically connect when you are in range and have WiFi turned on.
